Job description

We are seeking a skilled ESS Development Engineer - Battery Management to join our team and contribute to the design, development, and optimization of Battery Management Systems (BMS) for Energy Storage Systems (ESS). This position plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, efficiency, and longevity of battery systems used in energy storage, electric vehicles, and grid applications.

  • Design and develop advanced Battery Management Systems (BMS) for energy storage applications;
  • Develop algorithms for battery state estimation to improve system performance and reliability;
  • Integrate BMS with power electronics and energy storage systems to ensure optimal performance, safety, and scalability;
  • Conduct performance testing and validation of battery systems, ensuring compliance with industry safety standards and regulations;
  • Work closely with hardware and software engineers to optimize the integration of BMS with other ESS components;
  • Analyze data from real-time monitoring systems to identify performance trends and implement improvementsl;
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to battery management and energy storage systems;
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of BMS with energy storage technologies and grid systems

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical/Software engineering or a related field.
  • 4-7 years of experience battery management system (BMS) design and development
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, including experience with CAN (Controller Area Network), Modbus, TCP/IP) protocols is a must.
  • Strong knowledge of lithium-ion batteries, energy storage technologies, and battery chemistry
  • Experience with power electronics and embedded systems in battery management
  • Proficiency in software programming for BMS (e.g., C, C++, MATLAB, Python)
  • Knowledge of CAN, CAN protocols (J1939, UDS, XCP) and can related tools (Vector Canalyzer, Canoe etc).
  • Experience in diagnostics (UDS/ODX/tooling) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with energy storage systems, battery management, and grid integration.
  • Able to estimate, prioritize and organize tasks independently.
  • Able to communicate fluently in English (writing, speaking, understanding).
  • Understanding of industry standards and regulatory requirements for battery systems (e.g., IEC, UL, ISO)
  • Strong problem-solving skills, especially in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
