Job description
We are seeking a talented ESS Development Engineer - Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic team, focusing on the development and optimization of electrical systems for Energy Storage Systems (ESS). This role is critical in ensuring the safety, efficiency, and performance of energy storage solutions in applications such as energy integration, grid storage, and more.
- Develop requirements and design electrical systems for multi-MW ESS;
- Integrating components like batteries, power conversion, transformers, controls hardware, and communication systems;
- Design and specify electrical equipment such as inverters, switchgear;
- transformers, and ensure the selection of components complies with relevant regulations and certification, particularly for Dutch and European standards;
- Lead the electrical design, ensuring integration of components such as batteries, inverters, AC/DC & control cables, low voltage switchgear, for voltage levels up to 1000V AC and 1500V DC;
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software, mechanical, and systems engineers, to seamlessly integrate electrical components into ESS designs;
- Conduct performance tests, simulations, and real-time analysis to optimize system efficiency, stability, and safety;
- Support technical documentation efforts, including product manuals, installation guides, and system-level interface documentation;
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve electrical issues during installations, providing technical support throughout the product and service delivery lifecycle;
- Assist in evaluating the technical viability of tenders and support real-time;
- incident response, recovery, and investigation related to your area of expertise.
Requirements
- About 5 years of experience in electrical engineering, with at least 2 years of field experience as an on-site engineer;
- Strong background in designing and integrating electrical systems for ESS, with hands-on experience in working with electrical panels and making wiring changes;
- Expertise in electrical design tools (e.g., EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical) and knowledge of battery systems is a plus;
- In-depth understanding of electrical components, including batteries, inverters, transformers, and switchgear, with a focus on ensuring compliance with relevant safety and performance standards;
- Experience with Dutch and European regulatory standards related to energy storage;
- Ability to work in both field and office environments, with a mix of hands-on installation work and design optimization;
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex electrical systems and provide real-time support;
