The Functional Application Specialist is the functional expert for the applications that support Ebusco's logistics and purchasing processes. In our federated model the business owns functional maintenance of its applications, so this role is the hands-on functional owner for the domain: keeping applications configured to the process, master data clean, and key users productive, all within central IT's architecture, security and data guardrails.
The role starts by taking ownership of the current logistics and purchasing application landscape, and will play a central part in migrating it to a new, more integrated solution, bridging the business, central IT and external vendors throughout that journey.
Position in the organisation
- The role sits within the Logistics & Purchasing domain and operates inside the federated model's central guardrails. Key working relationships:
- Logistics & purchasing key users and process owners — the people whose daily work the applications support;
- Central IT core — the Technical Application Manager in particular — who owns the technical lifecycle, integrations and vendor governance;
- External application vendors and implementation partners — for support, changes and the migration project.;
- Je ondersteunt de Finance-afdeling bij het analyseren en boeken van financiële accruals ten behoeve van de maand- en jaarafsluiting.
- Data & integration governance — to keep master data and interfaces sound across connected systems (e.g. ERP and finance);
Key responsibilities
Functional application management
- Act as functional expert and first point of contact for the logistics and purchasing applications.
- Configure and maintain application settings so they fit logistics and purchasing processes.
- Own and safeguard the quality of master data within the domain.
- Manage functional user authorisations for the domain, keeping access appropriate and auditable.
- Log and analyse functional issues, resolve what you can, and route technical items to central IT and vendors.
- Create and maintain functional documentation, work instructions and key-user knowledge.
Process & business support
- Understand the logistics and purchasing processes — procurement, orders, goods flow, inventory and supplier data — and translate needs into functional solutions.
- Support, train and coach key users and end users, and drive adoption of the applications.
- Gather, prioritise and specify functional change requests for central IT and vendors.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of the processes the applications support.
Application migration (a major focus of this role)
- Play a leading functional role in migrating the logistics and purchasing applications to a new, more integrated solution.
- Map current processes and functional requirements onto the target application.
- Lead data cleansing, mapping and validation so master and transactional data move across correctly.
- Design and execute functional test scripts (system and user-acceptance testing) and coordinate key-user testing.
- Prepare and support cutover, go-live and the early post-go-live (hypercare) period.
- Support decommissioning of the legacy application together with central IT.

Governance & compliance
- Work within central architecture, security and data guardrails (ISO 27001, NIS2, GDPR).
- Ensure functional changes respect integration standards and the central ITSM / change process.
- Keep authorisations and segregation of duties appropriate — important where purchasing meets finance and audit.
Required qualifications & experience
- MBO+ / HBO in logistics, supply chain, business administration, information management or a related field — or equivalent experience.
- Experience as a functional application administrator, senior key user or functional consultant, ideally in a logistics, purchasing / procurement or supply-chain context.
- Good understanding of logistics and purchasing processes (procure-to-pay, order management, inventory, supplier and master data).

- Awareness of the security, data and compliance principles that apply to business applications (GDPR; segregation of duties).

Competencies & way of working
- Business–IT bridge — comfortable translating between logistics/purchasing colleagues and technical teams.
- Process-minded and precise — takes master-data quality and testing seriously.
- Structured under pressure — keeps a migration on track without losing the detail.
- Proactive problem solver — spots issues early and drives them to resolution.
- Approachable communicator and trainer — brings key users along rather than leaving them behind.
Nice to have
- Experience migrating from a legacy logistics or purchasing system to a modern, ERP-integrated solution.
- Familiarity with ERP and finance integrations.
- Experience in a manufacturing or scale-up environment.
- Awareness of project methodology (e.g. Agile or PRINCE2) and/or functional-consulting certifications.
